Alan White Housing is a new housing consultancy specialising in:

HOMELESSNESS

The new Homelessness Reduction Act, the introduction of Universal Credit and the housing crisis has put additional pressures on local councils. I can help councils manage these pressures by looking at current systems and recommending strategies to deliver more within current resources

TEMPORARY ACCOMMODATION

With a track record of successfully reducing the use and cost of temporary housing, I can help councils reduce the use of bed and breakfast, improving quality, suitability, procurement and managing costs

HOUSING REGISTERS

I specialise in reviewing allocation polices for councils. I can also advise on local policies and legal issues, such as local connection, Equality Impact Assessments, priority to working families and the Right to Move

CHOICE BASED LETTINGS

I have worked with more than 20 schemes and can advise on void loss, procurement, cooperation and engagement between councils and housing associations, partnership or single service, reducing costs as well as bidding methods and frequency

IT AND SOCIAL MEDIA

I have a wealth of experience managing housing options services and can help you with procurement and managing relationships with your IT provider, reducing footfall using on-line systems as well as improving your social media profile

If you are a local authority or housing association and are looking for practical help and advice in any of these areas, please contact me.

I’ve worked within social housing for more than 35 years and have a wealth of experience gained from working in local authorities across the country.

During the last 10 years I’ve managed the largest Choice Based Lettings partnership in the UK, with the 13 councils of Kent. I also worked as Business Operations Manager at Locata Housing Services, an IT software company specialising in housing options solutions.

My guiding principle is to provide practical help that will save housing organisations time and money. ‘Hard-pressed housing managers don’t always have the time to consider or implement more efficient policies or procedures, and sometimes could benefit from expert advice and assistance.’

I have a degree in Public Policy and have been a full member of the Chartered Institute of Housing since 1991. Notable successes include being one of the first organisations to devise a housing register banding scheme and being awarded Homeless Champion status by the Government.

Key Point One

The Homelessness Reduction Act has put more pressure on councils, with limited additional resources

Key Point Two

How does your Allocation Policy fit in with the new legislation?

Key Point Three

Is your letting system housing those who need it most?
